The American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) mobile application provides family physicians with useful information to assist with preparation for the ABFM Certification Exam. This module turns your Android Device into an invaluable tool for keeping you in touch with what you need to know as you enter your certification or recertification year.

Features include:

Practice Quiz – Over 400 questions addressing problems commonly encountered by family physicians. Each practice quiz presents 10 questions followed by a clear rationale for the correct answer including the associated reference. The user may target specific content areas for each quiz and track overall results.

Upcoming Exam Dates – a quick view of future ABFM Examination dates

Links to the ABFM website and the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine website

While not a substitute for a well-designed and executed study plan, the ABFM App is an additional tool to help prepare for the ABFM Certification Exam. This module is designed for family physicians, but the questions may be useful for medical students and other health care providers as well.

There is no advertising in this app.

Certain areas of the app (videos and exam dates) require an Internet connection.

ABFM Exam Prep app good for

I like the ability to select question subjects as well as the history of results. Both great new features. Convenient to use and squeeze in extra studying. Not sufficient for board or ITE training alone, obviously. Dont like that there seems to be a bug and you cant see any of the images included in question stems (have an iPhone, am up to date on app downloads)

I love this application! It helps me complete sets of 10 board questions on the fly. Theres one huge problem, however... Unfortunately, the images are no longer viewable with the latest update. Please fix this one major flaw and the app will be perfect! :)

Some bad moments

App has been useful for board prep, but recently has stopped working entirely. I cannot access any practice quiz without it crashing and dumping me back onto the home screen. I do not recommend downloading this app until this issue has been addressed.

App is easy enough to use but many of the questions cut off. You can often read the full history but the question will be cut off mid sentence.

Questions are not reflective at all of the type of question style or content found on the boards.. Not a useful study method

5 stars for the fact that the ABFM is forward thinking enough to put an app up in the first place.

Good to see ABFM coming with an app geared for the boards. Keep up the good work. Hope to see more from the app.

What a neat tool! As a residency program director, I will encourage all my residents (especially the R3s) to use this app for board preparation. Mimics what is available on theabfm.org site but obviously more portable. Wish list: -CME Credit for completing the quizzes. -Ability to view MOC status -important notifications sent to the app Great job ABFM!!
